Conferences are an amazing way to convey vital information to a large number of employees, peers, or even trainees. If you want the most out of your conference, you’ll want more than just projectors. While projectors are fine and dandy for effectively presenting through a keynote speaker, you may want to add to the experience by getting a large quantity tablet rental to use custom business or event applications.

There are many operating systems for tablets which can accommodate your conference needs, which is why we will be covering three tablets you can use for your next conference, instead of one.

1. iPad Pro

Whether you need to rent the 9.7 inch or the 12.9 inch display, Apple’s iPad Pro is an essential tool for holding a conference if your business applications are based in Apple’s operating systems. The iPad Pro is both stylish and efficient, as is to be expected by Apple. The iPad Pro boasts the following specs and more:

  • At least 32 GB
  • A9X third-generation chip with 64-bit computer compatibility
  • HD Video Capability
  • Up to 10 hour battery life

2. Samsung Galaxy Tab S2

Despite the fact that Samsung products have been taking (outputting is a more appropriate word) heat lately, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is a top-of-the-line tablet. Operating on the Android Lollipop OS, this tablet is capable of displaying all of the vital powerpoints, excel documents, and word documents you would expect your event tablet rentals to display. Some impressive specs of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 include:

  • At least 32 GB
  • MicroSD capable of storing up to 128 GB
  • Exynos 5433 AP chip
  • Choice between 9.7 inch and compact 8.0 inch displays

3. Microsoft Surface Pro 4

Microsoft’s competitor in the tablet arena is a powerhouse. The Surface Pro 4 is extremely thin, but does not sacrifice power for size. This tablet runs Windows 10 Pro, and can easily let its specs speak for itself. This tablet has:

  • SSD memory starting at 128GB minimum
  • Battery life of over 5 hours
  • Intel m3,i5, i7, or 6th Gen Intel Core Processor
  • 4GB RAM minimum
  • Headset Jackmicrosoft-surface-pro

Whether you need iOS, Android Lollipop, or Windows, your conference can effectively integrate programs on any of these operating systems with a tablet rental. The three devices listed above are tried and true, and will be capable of powering through the obstacles your conference applications or software may present.

iOS 10’s Hot New Features

July 5th, 2016 | Posted by rreeve in Apple | iPad | iPhone - (0 Comments)

Last month Apple announced that iOS 10 will be releasing this fall and unveiled many of the bells and whistles which will accompany the operating system upon its release. Apple announced 10 new features for iOS10 which they thoroughly delved into during their presentation at the Worldwide Developers Conference, but we can give you a basic rundown of what iOS 10 will do for you.

New Looks

Apple has decided to update several visual aspects of your device with the release of iOS 10. Some fancy new graphics you can look forward to seeing include a redesigned lockscreen and a heavily improved Messages app. Improvements for the Messages app include videos sent inside messages can now be seen and played inside of the Messages app, and emojis will be displayed 3 times larger.

More Interactivity

iOS 10 is heavily focused on improving user experience through interactivity. To improve user interaction Apple has done a number of things. Most notably, Apple has opened Siri for developers, meaning you should expect some of the top apps, such as Twitter or Instagram, to start integrating Siri into their design. Apple has also taken several much smaller steps to ensure an increase in user interaction, including:

  1. More notifications for the lockscreen and more things to do in apps from the lockscreen
  2. QuickType can help you complete your messages in a more timely manner.
  3. The Homekit app will now have house accessory support for accessories like security cameras and doorbells.
  4. Your device will now be able to show you where you’ve taken your pictures on a world map, and will also be able to sort people into individual photo albums through facial recognition.
  5. Apple News will present you with articles based on articles you have already read.

Higher Quality of Life

Apple has also announced several quality of life improvements which will release alongside iOS 10.Two such improvements are a redesign of the Apple News app and transcripts for voicemail messages. Apple plans to clean up the news app’s interface and give it easier to sort categories.

Apple unveiled many exciting things at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference which took place last week. One extremely important announcement was Swift Playgrounds.

Before discussing Swift Playgrounds, it is important to know what Swift is. For those of you who do not know, Swift is a programming language created and used by Apple that runs on many operating systems, including macOS, iOS, and Linux.

Swift Playgrounds is an application that has the goal of teaching Apple’s Swift coding while still being fun for the user. To accomplish this goal, Swift Playgrounds presents itself in the style of a video game.

Apple plans to use Swift coding for many years to come, and as a result Swift Playgrounds has the potential to be both a fun and extremely practical application.

Swift Playgrounds is planned to fully release this fall and will be available to download for free for all iPhone and iPad users. For additional information on Swift Playgrounds click here.

The LG’s G Pad series, most known as a copy of the Google Nexus 7, has upgraded to the new G Pad II. The G Pad II, unfortunately, won’t be able to make it to the IFA 2015 in Berlin. It’s not quite clear on prices and usability just yet, but we may be looking at a pretty cheap tablet. The Snapdragon 800, which is the G Pad’s processor, is almost 2 years old, but they have it running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It also has a 10.1-inch screen that uses about 224 pixels-per-inch, which doesn’t even compare to the upcoming Samsung’s 9.7-inch Galaxy Tab S2.

LG G PadJust about the only thing that’s cool about this device is its decent battery life. It’s a 7,400 mAh battery with a more energy-efficient processor. The only color option you get to choose from is bronze, that’s it. The G Pad II will also be including an e-reading mode that reduces blue light output. They claim this will let your read for hours without getting a headache.

This tablet doesn’t seem like the most thrilling new device on the market. iPads and Android tablets are only getting bigger and better. If you don’t want to put all that money into a full-blown Android tablet and just want a cheap tablet that runs the latest Android with an “ok” battery life, then you’re best bet would be the G Pad II.

Company events are widely considered one of the best ways to grow your brand and provide useful information to attendees directly. When a business is hosting an event or training course, the typical run-of-the-mill presentations and paper evaluations can get very dull very quickly. What can you do to fix that problem? Well thankfully, for all of us, we have technology. Take the iPad for example. The tablet that made tablets practical, essentially. So how are you going to use this tablet technology to further your brand and help with attendee engagement? Just know that whether it be on the event floor or during the presentation, an iPad can really help bolster your event.

Think about how much paper you may use during the entirety of your event. The copier would be on overload. Instead, why not go a bit greener by using an iPad to take care of things such as speaker and presentation evaluations. Paper signups and registration can get a bit hectic at times as well, depending on the type of event you may be hosting. By putting these types of forms directly onto the iPad your company has provided, you can save paper and keep everything much more organized in the long run.

When your company hosts an event, you want to be as engaged with your attendees as possible. Communication is key in these types of situations. Everyone in the event industry can tell you about live tweeting during a presentation, and that’s just one of the ways an iPad can help. Hashtags aren’t just limited to Twitter anymore. We are now able to use hashtags on all major social media formats, thus making for a much more accessible conversation outlet. Whether it be a forum for attendees to talk about the event on, or if you’re using a hashtag to compose a poll or live tweeting question and answer session, the iPad can help you greatly.

Most attendees will respond to something more visual rather than something they have to read. A picture is worth a thousand words after all. Your attendees will be able to talk to loved ones back home with Skype coming standard on almost all iPads now. With incredible camera quality and processing power, the iPad will be able to display crystal clear pictures and the cameras do their jobs very well. Not only will the attendees’ video chats go well (depending on the internet strength), but they will also be able to take gorgeous pictures that can more easily be posted directly to social media and other sites. Anyone who may be a bit more into photography than others will be able to transfer their pictures taken on a phone, and send them directly to the iPad.

The use of an iPad during the presentation can be beneficial to attendees as well. We all know that nosebleed seats can make it hard for us to see. By having the iPad out during the presentation, you’re able to have the slide show play directly on the iPad through a master iPad controlling it. This way, those sitting in the back won’t have to strain their eyes, nor will they have to try to follow along as it will already be done for them. Think of this as well. Many more attendees will respond to an interactive presentation rather than watch another guy fiddle around with the same hand motion for 2 hours while he speaks.

When you bring the iPad into the play during the speakers presentation, he may become more engaged with the audience and vice versa. Attendees will be more interested especially if the presentation is being played through their respective iPads as well.

There is a multitude of different ways to help make your brand and/or company grow. One of the best and easiest ways to make that happen is at an event. With iPads, or any tablet for that matter, at your next event helping to make it a success, you can be sure that your brand and your audience will grow. Try utilizing iPads at your next business event and see the difference for yourself!

Mobile devices change and get better almost on a daily basis. This is one reason why Apple’s iPad sales have really been suffering lately. New stuff comes out that is better and cheaper, and phones are getting so big that people really don’t need tablets as much as they used to.

This is why Apple decided that they were going to refresh their line of iPads. They were going to revamp them and make them something awesome that people would be excited to buy again. But there is something that is really odd to me… If iPad sales are really that bad and they keep trying to find new cool things to add to them and make people buy them again, why is the new iPad mini the exact same thing that it has always been?

ipad mini 3

Specifications

If you look at the specs, it’s really confusing and laughable. It has the same exact 7.9 inch 2.048 x 1,536 display that last year’s Retina Mini had. Don’t get me wrong, it still looks good and everything. It looked good last year too though. What is the point?

That’s not where it ends though. Lots of new processors have come out in the past year. Even all of the Apple stuff got processor upgrades. So it is really surprising to see that the new iPad mini has the exact same A7 chip that last year’s model had. It runs at 1.27GHz and has 1GB of RAM. So it performs well in most situations, but there really isn’t anything to get excited about. Even the new iPad Air got an A8 chip and 2GB of RAM, which is a pretty good upgrade. So even if Apple decides to put out another version of the iPad Mini a few years from now, it’s probably only to get about as good as the current iPad Air anyway. I’m literally not even seeing one reason to upgrade yet.

The Big (Mini) Picture

If you are in the market for a small tablet, there really isn’t anything WRONG with the iPad Mini. It can get pretty much anything done, you can surf the web and play games flawlessly, check your email, and anything else. The whole point is just that they have been selling the same thing for years, and they seem like they don’t understand why their sales are suffering. Maybe the general public has caught on to the fact that there are other companies who actually put current technology into their devices, and that the name “Apple” doesn’t make your device any better. I don’t really know, but I do know that this was an overall very poor effort on Apple’s part.

Amazon might not be your first choice for your tablet needs, as it doesn’t have the same fashionable appeal as Apple, but they’re showing off some brand new tablets to catch your eye. Many of the tablets that have been released by Amazon before usually get very good reviews. This time, instead of just releasing one tablet, they’ve decided to release a few in order to compete with the rest of the models on the market. They’ve made the decision to cover just about every type of tablet that you would want to own. Everything from the top of the line to the very affordable “economy” tablets. The one that everyone will be watching is definitely their flagship Kindle Fire HDX 8.9

Kindle Fire HDX 8.9

kindle hdxThe updated version of the tablet has a lot more to offer performance wise, or so says Amazon. The tablet still has the same dimensions as its original predecessor. It’s still 8.9 inches and 13.2 ounces, and still smaller and lighter than the iPad Air that many people still swear by. The updated tablet will be housing a brand new Qualcomm quad core Snapdragon 805 processor and a sleek, new Arduino 450 GPU. This will give much better all around performance and even be able to offer “console-quality gaming”, or so says Amazon. The display on the new model is even better than the last time around and still better than the Air as well. The new model will be sporting a 2560×1600 pixel resolution display, and the tablet’s ppi is set at 339. If you’re unfamiliar with that term, it means “pixels per inch”. The Air is only at 2048×1536 pixel resolution and running at 264 ppi. Needless to say, the Kindle Fire beats it in the display department, hands down.

They Didn’t Forget The Software

If you have new technology, you can’t have it without some new software right? Don’t worry, cause Amazon has you covered. The new tablet is working with Android KitKat, but that operating system will eventually move to the mobile OS. This is where the upgrade comes into play. The Fire OS 4.0 will be seeing a host of new features with its update. Tablet users will now be able to access the cloud-based Firefly service that was first released on the Fire Phone. The Firefly service will be able to work with the tablet’s camera in order to identify a large number of items, like movies and TV shows. The tablet will later be able to use a new app called Translation. By opening Firefly, and as long as the internet connection permits, you will be able to point the camera at any text that appears in a different language, and it will translate it right there on the spot. The new software definitely has some sweet little perks to it.

It Wouldn’t Be Complete Without An Additional Keyboard

amazonThat’s right. Following suit with what seems to be the big trend now, the new tablet will also offer a separate additional keyboard. Obviously it won’t come with the new tablet, but it will only be a $60 investment should you want to go that route. The keyboard is only 7 ounces and 4.8 mm thick. The keyboard, however isn’t attachable. It’s actually ran through Bluetooth which could be both good and bad depending on how you look at it. Unless you plan on being extra productive or plan on using it for gaming, there shouldn’t be any real need for the keyboard however. That being said, the trend is big enough for Amazon to take notice and add it to their tablets.

Amazon knows that they’re not exactly on the top of the tablet game, but they’re doing a good job making a nice selection of tablets to cover all of their bases. Even if you like Apple, you can’t help but take notice of Amazon’s efforts.

ipad4There have been a lot of rumors about Apple this year. The next several months could potentially be a make-or-break period of time for them. Things are supposed to be crazy with the release of the iPhone 6. According to some reports, there may even be multiple versions of the smartphone that drop at the same time.  Photos and reports of the next installment of the iPad Air have also been leaked.

As far as tablets go, Apple has always been on top. From the moment they launched the original iPad, the whole market has been wrapped around their finger. The only problem that Apple faces now is the fact that almost every company in the world has decided to make their own variation of the tablet, and there isn’t much left to do. Apple needs to find a way to bring excitement back enabling them to capture the market all over again.

According to new reports from Bloomberg, Apple is working on a brand new iPad that is going to have a display much larger than any that we have ever seen before. On the market currently we have iPads that are 9.7 inches and the iPad mini tablets that are 7.9 inches. According to Bloomberg, Apple has been working on an iPad that will have a 12.9-inch display that could be released as early as next year. The report cites a lot of sources that have proven to be pretty credible in the past. They say that the company has been working on this project for well over a year with their suppliers.

This news is coming at a time when things are already pretty exciting for Apple fans. We have been smothered by all of the news and rumors surrounding the much anticipated release of the iPhone 6. It is supposedly coming out in a 4.7-inch version along with a larger 5.5-inch version. That is scheduled for launch on September 9th. Apple is really trying to dominate the mobile market in general right now.

The best thing about putting out a larger iPad is the fact that it has potential to re-light the spark that once surrounded the iPad. Sales have been suffering  in comparison to previous years. Consumers would rather upgrade their smartphones than upgrade their tablets. You can’t really blame them. But by giving us an iPad with a 12.9-inch display, it may give consumers a real reason to think about upgrading from their old iPad.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAn iPad with a larger display could also prove to be quite handy in the office. The company has been trying to expand their business into the world of enterprise. Along with offering a larger, more useful and productive iPad, they will also be offering businesses iPhones and iPads that come preloaded with enterprise specific apps. This could also be a huge move for the company.

I don’t know about you all, but I feel as if everyone in the world owns an iPad these days. They at least own some sort of tablet. That’s just the way that computing and mobile technology have gone. I feel like ever since the smartphone came out and started changing the game, all of the other tech devices followed suit. The smartphone made way for the tablet. Once the iPad came out in 2010, the numbers had skyrocketed from sales and even still today, there are still sales being made. That being said, some of the sales have dropped recently. Some experts think that this is reason for alarm. I think they’re dead wrong.

Death Of A Category?

Some would think that the tablet market is on its way out. These people are very wrong. At least for the time being, the iPad and the tablet market itself aren’t dying out anytime soon. People think that just because sales might be down a slight margin of a percent that the iPad is going to die. There could be some slight merit to the reasoning behind it but think about this; where are they going to go next? They can only do so much to make technology get more mobile. Unless they somehow develop a floating iPad or invisible personal assistant, the tablet market won’t be going out of style anytime soon.

The Tablet Is A Phone, But It’s Not

If you mean to sit here and tell me that your tablet isn’t a phone, I’d be one of the first people to tell you that you’re lying to yourself. The way that our smartphones are today suggests that our tablets are basically the same way. What I mean by that is that our phones have become so advanced and that we are so demanding of our technology that we want our phones to do everything. Our tablet is essentially our phone without texting and calling features. The best part is that there are still apps for texting and calling, even on the iPad. The way that it isn’t like a phone is because of the “upgrade system”.

Upgrades And Numbers

It’s all about he upgrades these days. Think of this. We upgrade our phones roughly once every year to two years. When is the last time you upgraded your tablet? You have to think about it even if you did, don’t you? Even when we upgrade our phones, we don’t pass them down to family. We get rid of them. We don’t do this for our tablets. This is exactly why the numbers seem to be dwindling for the tablet market. You will pass down a tablet or a computer. You’re not going to pass down a cell phone, and you’re going to upgrade a phone at a quicker pace. The tablets that come out don’t take as much of a daily beating as our phones do, thus making them a bit more resilient. Simply because you have all these factors affecting the numbers, this is why you have experts saying something that is completely false.

The iPad and the tablet market in general are going nowhere any time soon. Apple will still be making more tablets, just like Samsung, Android, and Google. Just because sales numbers look to be down comparatively over the past couple of years doesn’t mean that this is a dead category. Oh no my friends, the tablet and the iPad are still very much alive and well.

thinkpad8Microsoft has been struggling a little bit, especially after having to cut out so many jobs. New news from Lenovo just adds to the pain. Lenovo is the worlds largest PC vendor, and they have said that they are going to some selling one of their small screen Windows tablets in the United States.

On Thursday Lenovo confirmed that the 8.3 inch Thinkpad 8 would not be available on store shelves in the states anymore. On top of that, the 8 inch Miix 2 has already sold out in the states and there has been no word on restocking. This means that Lenovo is going to have zero small screen tablets available in the U.S.

The company has observed that their customers in the U.S. are more interested in Windows tablets with bigger screens, and they are really happy with the response that the ThinkPad 10 has gotten. The ThinkPad 8 has done way better in other markets like China, Brazil, and even Japan. They are pretty much just delivering the goods where they are wanted the most. Smart move for Lenovo, bad news for Microsoft.

The small demand may come from the fact that Microsoft ignored the small screened tablet world for a very long time. The iPad mini was already out and so were a lot of other Android and tablets, including Samsung’s Galaxy tab, before Windows even offered support for tablets of that size. By that time it was too late and the market had already been spoken for. Even Asus, Acer, and Dell has their own smaller tablets out on the market that had been doing pretty well. And even now, some of the apps for Windows are a little wonky on smaller screens. It’s just not working.

Microsoft still has a lot going for them with tablets. They do great with larger ones. They provide a superior computing experience, and tablets like the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 have gotten awesome reviews.

Lenovo will probably offer smaller tablets again at some point, but for right now Microsoft is going to have to focus on their bigger tablets and possible start working on a game plan for their next shot at a big release of a smaller tablet. They have said that they will probably still put out another one in the U.S. before the end of the year to see how it does, so Microsoft should start preparing.
